School Holiday Respite

The Harris Hands School Holiday Respite Program is offered specifically during the weeks the NYC public schools are closed. This program is specifically designed to give families of individuals a chance to relax or to keep the individual engaged with recreational activities while parents or guardians resume their daily routine such as go to work or attend appointments. While participating in this program individuals will have an opportunity to participate in exciting indoor and outdoor activities, engage in community inclusion and partake in recreational outings such as the movies, museums and parks. Transportation is offered to and from the program.

To be eligible, the individual must be:
  • Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) eligible
  • Have Medicaid and a Care Coordinator
  • Live in the Metro NY area
  • Be waivered (HCBS) or be eligible to be waivered
  • School age
  • An individual that resides in the community (not residential)
